Tickets: Bought ahead of time are $35. Tickets bought on the day of
are $40; buy them now to save money! Buy tickets here. People flock from all over the world to be a part of this experience and tickets will sell out soon as they have in past years so buy them ASAP. Some of the proceeds go to the Friends of the Marin City Library and various local
non-profits.

 

Event: The 2013 Sausalito Floating Homes Tour is coming soon for the 28th
year! This event is put on by the Floating Homes Association, a
non-profit consisting of many of the Sausalito houseboat residents, some
of whom will be on site during the tour to help you get a feel for
their lifestyle on the water that we've all been so curious about.

This year, the tour will take you in and around the history and architecture of the various houseboats and will feature an art show with pieces created by Sausalito's
own artists and musicians. If you bring some cash, you can enjoy food and drinks on the waterfront and purchase a piece of art to take home as a souvenir from the art show on the Kappas Green.

During The Tour:

Park in the parking lot.

When you arrive and hand in your ticket, be sure that you receive a wristband; without it you will not be permitted to enter the floating homes on tour.

The floating homes that will be open to visitors will be marked with colored flags.

Respectful rules suggest that you do not smoke, eat food, or drink beverages inside the houseboats. Please leave your dogs at home for the day. Some of the houseboat residents may ask that you remove your shoes upon entrance so wear comfortable sandals. Please do not ask to use their restrooms. There will be port-a-potties on site.

For safety and practicality, do not wear high heels. Be watchful of your children if you choose to bring them, however it is advised that you don't bring your kids.

 

Volunteers Needed: 3 or 4 hours of volunteering in the morning, or the afternoon will grant you a free tour ticket and an invitation to the after party. 220 volunteers are required to make this special occasion the best it can be. Here's a list of possible volunteer spots:

  • Volunteers at the ramps
  • Volunteers to greet visitors and keep the flow on the Tour Boat Bus.
  • Volunteers to set up
  • Volunteers to aid registering visitors
  • Volunteers to pay attention to traffic and to clean up
  • 'Alternates' to be ready to undertake any of these tasks on the day of.

Volunteer shifts (sign up for one shift) during the event include:

  • 10:00 AM — 1:00 PM
  • 1:00 PM — 4:00 PM
  •  12:00 PM — 2:00 PM

She will be coordinating this event so let her know which task and shift you are interested in and about any allergies or physical disabilities that you have.
