The ICB Artists Association periodically shows films at Gallery 111, their showplace in the ICB Building in northern Sausalito. The subjects are usually interesting and have some tie to the local community.
"Painting Bolinas" is a documentary about 90-year-old artist Peter Lee Brownlee, who lives in a creative and chaotic Bolinas environment playing a role that some might say echoes that of Jean Varda 50 years ago in Sausalito.
Like Varda, Sterling Hayden and Alan Watts in Sausalito, Brownlee is surrounded by an artistic community that includes independent and original creatives as well as unique characters drawn to a rebellious seaside town by assorted dreams and demons.
The film took three years to produce and has been recognized in multiple film festivals.
