When you're dining with the kids the definition of a "good restaurant" changes. It can't be too fancy, they need to have some healthy menu choices in smaller portions, and prices matter with more people at the table. Here are some good choices for when you're dining with children, although there are more options than we've listed here. Price ranges quoted are for dinner entrees at time of most recent review. Restaurants that we have reviewed are indicated with " Sea Lions" (for dinner places) or "
Elephants" (for breakfast and lunch spots).
Caffe DiVino (Italian, Music, $10-$25) 7 Sea Lions Their lunch menu has some less expensive items and the casual venue works with kids.
Cibo (Italian, Breakfast & Lunch) NEWLY OPENED! Smaller portions with fresh ingredients make this a good choice for lunch.
Dario's Pizza (Pizza, $14-$18.50) Their seating area is kid friendly.
Fish and Chips of Sausalito (Fast Food, $8) Take your food, walk two blocks to the park by the water and enjoy!
Hamburgers (Lunch only; $6.50 flame-grilled burgers) 7 Elephants Kids of all ages will love watching their food cook on the rotating grill in the front window, and the park across the street is just one of several great places to sit and eat within a block of this narrow gem.
Horizons (Seafood, Bay Views, $14-$30) 7 Sea Lions If you want a great view and don;t mind spending a little more, this is a kid-friendly spot.
Kitti's Place (Pan-Asian, $9-$15) Friendly place primarily visited by local residents.
Lappert's Ice Cream (Ice Cream) 'Nuff said.
Lighthouse Diner (Breakfast & lunch only) Great spot for breakfast with the family.
Outback Steakhouse (Steakhouse $8.50-$26) 5 Sea Lions You know, it's a chain and therefore it's not the same as the classy places downtown. But they have a good kids menu, the right kind of seating and a fun atmosphere.
Salsalito Taco Shop (Mexican, $9.50-$18)) Informal outdoor seating, good Mexican food.
Sartaj India Cafe (Indian, $8-$13) Friendly place, popular with local residents.
Sausalito Gourmet Deli (Deli) They have a great shady patio out back that's a nice place to sit for lunch.
Saylor's (American & Mexican, $8-$23) Kid-friendly spot popular with local residents.
Venice Gourmet Deli (Deli) After you get your sandwiches just walk across the street and you're standing at the edge of the Bay looking at a million-dollar view. They also have a handful of sidewalk tables.
