Fast Forward SummaryTM: The Sausalito Bakery and Cafe is located in the heart of the downtown area in Sausalito, with a fabulous view of the Bay out the windows... if only we could persuade the UPS guy and his ever-larger truck to stop parking in front of this place and its neighbors twice a day for 20 minutes at a time! In the morning this bakery features a selection of breakfast items mixing bagels, rolls, eggs, cheese and bacon. For lunch they serve a variety of salads and sandwiches. They have some of the most charming little cubbyholes with small tables in them where you can enjoy your meal inside -- I can see a director filming a falling-in-love scene for a movie here with the couple hidden away in a corner! There are also a couple of small fabulous-view tables out front on the sidewalk. Very friendly people.
Sweet Tooth Alert: the baked items I've had here have less sugar than at some bakeries, exactlywhat some people are looking for (fewer calories, less sugar rush, etc.) Sausalito Bakery and Cafe should be a mecca for those darned responsible people who make us sugar-lovers look bad, but their pastries may not hit the spot for the traditional powdered sugar set.
