Summer Jazz and Blues by the Bay concerts are held each Friday from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Gabrielson Park in downtown Sausalito from early June through the end of August. These concerts are free of charge (thanks to generous local sponsors).
Produced by the Sausalito Parks and Recreation Dept., the concerts feature local jazz and blues performers. Food and beverages are sold on site by local non-profit groups, or you can bring your own or shop at local stores, deli’s and restaurants.
Insiders Tip: If you haven’t reserved a table via the Park and Rec Department phone number below (which we think is still a bargain in this day of expensive concerts) be sure to get there early. The prime open spaces seem to fill up earlier every year.
For Sausalito residents, season passes with reserved tables are available, and are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Non-Residents pay higher fees. A limited number of Reserved tables are made available by the City each week on a one-time basis, only by advance reservation. You can call the Sausalito Recreation office for more information or to make a reservation at 415-289-4152.
Concerts are recorded and rebroadcast each week on Radio Sausalito on AM1610, which can also be accessed online and via podcast.
Jazz & Blues by the Bay 2015 Schedule
June 5: Ira Walker Blues Band, sponsored by Sausalito Lions Club
June 12: Lydia Pense and Cold Blood, sponsored by Sausalito Art Festival. Pense was a successful singer starting in the late 1960’s with Cold Blood, but was overshadowed by Sausalito denizen Janis Joplin. Back in the late 1960’s Joplin and Pense were frequently compared to each other, which will give you an idea of just how talented she is. (Yes, I still have their vinyl albums tucked away!)
June 19: Mitch Woods and His Rocket 88’s, sponsored by Sausalito Sister Cities Committee
June 26: Rhythmtown Jive, sponsored by Volunteers in Public Safety
July 3: Beaufunk featuring Michael Jeffries, sponsored by Sausalito on the Waterfront
July 10: Tito y Su Son de Cuba, sponsored by the Friends of the Sausalito Dog Park
