Bay Model Guided Tour July 12
Date: July 12, 2009
Time: 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
Place: Bay Model Visitors Center, 2100 Bridgeway, Sausalito CA 94965. Although the address for the B0y Model Visitors Center is on Bridgeway, the building itself is actually located off of Marinship Way, which splits off of Bridgeway just to the south and runs down a small hill to the nuilding. The satellite photo below shows the huge complex, and the map shows how Bridgeway and Marinship Way intersect. Once you've turned onto Marinship Way signs will lead you to parking for the Bay Model Visitor Center.
Price: Free, although donations are appreciated
Visitors will get to go on a guided tour of the Bay Model, a 1.5-acre (yes, it's really that huge) hydraulic model of San Francisco Bay and the Delta. On the Discovery Channel we watch 3D models of everything to learn how it works, but at the Bay Model they use real water to make the tides ebb and flood. Most local kids are brought here for field trips at some point in their lives, but for the rest of us it'll be a new kind of learning experience.
Google Map Instructions: Use the "+" and "-" buttons to zoom in and out, the arrow keys to scroll the map, and the SAT button to see the satellite view.
