Experience Global Warming at the Bay Model July 19
Date: July 19, 2009
Time: 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM
Place: Bay Model Visitors Center, 2100 Bridgeway, Sausalito CA 94965. Although the address for the Bay Model Visitors Center is on Bridgeway, the building itself is actually located off of Marinship Way, which splits off of Bridgeway just to the south and runs down a small hill to the nuilding. The satellite photo below shows the huge complex, and the map shows how Bridgeway and Marinship Way intersect. Once you've turned onto Marinship Way signs will lead you to parking for the Bay Model Visitor Center.
Price: Free
The Bay Model periodically gives visitors the chance to see the flooding of the model, when ten thousand years of sea level rise is simulated with twenty minutes of rushing water. If you've wondered what rising sea levels would do to the San Francisco Bay Area, this real-life experiment will show you the answers with real water on a 1.5 acre physical model.
Rangers will explain the inner workings of this fascinating hydraulic model, and will be available to answer questions.
Google Map Instructions: Use the "+" and "-" buttons to zoom in and out, the arrow keys to scroll the map, and the SAT button to see the satellite view.
