Careful What You Schedule Tuesday: New Bay Bridge Problem May Delay Reopening

We wanted to alert our subscribers that inspectors have found a problem in another portion of the "old" cantilever section of the Bay Bridge, a cracked I-beam that must be replaced before the bridge can re-open.
The fact that they're inspecting everything on the bridge while traffic is diverted is welcome and reassuring. But the traffic snarls that a Tuesday closure would create call for care in scheduling appointments that day if you have to travel an affected route like 101 north from Sausalito.
Hey, maybe we should extend the Art Festival an extra day, too!
