Sausalito Chili Cook-off Sept. 27 Makes Diners the Big Winners
Date: Sunday, September 27, 11:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Place: Dunphy Park, just off Bridgeway (see map below), Sausalito
Cost: $10 for unlimited chili tasting
The 31st annual Sausalito Chili Cook-Off will take place this Sunday, Sept 27, with tasting starting at 11:30 AM. The Southern Marin Firefighters will be defending their 2008 Best Chili title.
To participate in the tasting and judging, just come to the event and buy a $10 unlimited chili tasting ticket (actually it's a wrist-band, but "ticket" sounds inherently more valuable). You can then go booth to booth sampling the top candidates based on aroma, color, or description. Everyone's a judge for the "People's Choice" prize, and you'll be given voting beans to award for the best chili. Whoever gets the most beans wins!
Competing chefs must make at least 10 gallons of their secret recipes, and all the preparation and cooking have to be done on site at Dunphy Park on the day of the event.
Prize Categories: MOST CREATIVE- "The chili was my 3rd choice, but nobody else had a better both or crazier costumes!". JUDGES' CHOICE- A panel of expert judges gets to pick this one. PEOPLE'S CHOICE- This is where the beancounters really do make all the decisions!
