It's great when we get to see something great and lasting come from a voter-approved Bond Issue. In 2004 the $15.9 million Measure I School Facility Bond was approved by Sausalito voters, and now we can see a modern new school as a result.
On May 26 the Sausalito – Marin City School District Board (Mark Trotter, Dr. Shirley Thornton, Karen Benjamin, Thomas Newmeyer and Dr. William Ziegler) and Supt. Dr. Debra A. Bradley are hosting a celebration of the opening of the new Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Marin City.

Some of these events have been prime places to rub shoulders with a member of the 49ers or other celebrities, but our contacts have not confirmed anything specific yet about this particular reception.
Visitors will take building tours, view student work displays, and take part in a Caledonia St. style Art Walk featuring student art. A steel pan drum band performance will highlight the entertainment.
