The Green Gulch Farm Zen Center is a Soto Zen teaching and practice center near Muir Beach, 9 miles (15 km.) west of Sausalito near the shoreline of the Pacific Ocean. The facility is surrounded by the parklands of the GGNRA, and several area hiking trails cross the property, an arrangement that was made as part of the center’s receiving approval to purchase and occupy the farm in the area covered by the GGNRA back in 1972. In addition to its training programs it manages an organic farm and gardens. The Zen Center also has a limited number of guest units that it rents out, primarily to groups who are renting their meeting facilities. Muir Beach gets its mail from Sausalito and has no post office of its own, and Sausalito and Muir Beach share the 94965 Zip Code.
It’s about a 9 mile (15 km) drive on a narrow, well-paved highway over the mountain ridge that also protects Muir Woods to get to the Zen Center from Sausalito, and the trip takes about 30 minutes in light traffic.
