Anchorage 5

This cafe in north Sausalito has a devoted local following, both for breakfast and for lunch, as witness its high ranking in our polls.  We like both the items from the breakfast griddle and the salads, sandwiches and burger from the lunch selections.  Of course, when we’re in the mood there’s the Mexican side of the menu with Chorizo con Huevos for Breakfast or great Enchiladas for lunch.  We’re not sure how a small place like this has such a big, diverse menu, but it’s definitely impressive.

At lunchtime this is a favorite among the artists and office workers in the area, and it’s also a go-to place for people living in the floating homes community.  We find the service here to be especially friendly.

Having trouble finding Anchorage 5?
(See map below).  The restaurant is tucked into a redwood office building near the water.  Turn onto Harbor Dr. from Bridgeway and go past Mollie Stone’s and the Post Office.  Turn left on Gate Five Road.  It’s in the front of the 2nd building on the right, across the street from the ICB Building and Heath Ceramics.

Something else that people should know about Anchorage 5?  Have any conspiracy theories on what happened to Anchorage numbers 1 through 4?  (Hint: When this area was a World War II shipyard, a nearby section was Anchorage 5 for the ships under construction.) Disagree with any of our suggestions?  Please let us know!
