Sausalito Bakery and Cafe
The Sausalito Bakery and Cafe is located in the heart of the downtown area in Sausalito, with a fabulous view of the Bay out the windows. (Now, if only we could persuade the UPS guy and his big truck to stop parking in front of this place several times each day!) In the morning they feature a selection of breakfast items, mixing bagels, rolls, eggs, cheese and bacon. For lunch they serve a variety of salads and sandwiches.
This little spot is where you can see the real Sausalito mixed in with visitors every morning. I see firefighters there all the time, along with people who have been regulars for years. If you speak Italian, on most days you won’t have to switch back to English here during your meal.
They have some charming little cubbyholes with small tables in them where you can enjoy your meal tucked inside — I can see a director filming a falling-in-love scene for a movie here with the couple hidden away in a corner! (My wife and I have been known to hide away there!) There are also a couple of small fabulous-view tables out front on the sidewalk.
Sausalito Bakery and Cafe has a nice mix of traditional very sweet treats, and morning favorites with subtle sweetness to them. Those seeking less sugary treats should make a point of trying them out.
Something else that people should know about Sausalito Bakery and Cafe? If the Tahoe Basin were filled with powdered sugar, would the resorts also provide Nutrasweet? Please let us know!
