Tides of the Bay

100 Bay St., Sausalito CA 94965          415-331-6008

We are sorry to report that Tides by the Bay has closed.

Website is here.  This is a long-time Sausalito business, and was formerly called “The Ship’s Store” and even longer ago “The Harbor Shop”.  Metered parking one block away on Bridgeway, City parking lots are adjacent to the building.  (Note: This business has been an OurSausalito.com sponsor.)

Finding Tides of the Bay:   If you walk down Bay St. towards the water, one block from Bridgeway it will be easy to find just across the street to your left as you reach San Francisco Bay (see photo above and map below).

If you follow the waterfront north from the Sausalito Ferry pier (with the Bay to your right) you’ll reach Tides of the Bay in about 2 blocks.

Insiders Tip:  If you’ve been walking around Sausalito, need to sit down for a while and don’t want to go have a meal in a restaurant, check out the drinks fridge at the front of Tides of the Bay, where they sell snacks, bottled water, sodas etc, Several lovely bayside benches where you can sit and take a break are located within a couple of blocks in either direction along the waterfront.  The views are great, and looking out at the harbor and the Bay is a lovely way to take a break for a few minutes!

There are a lot of gift and clothing stores in Sausalito.  A handful of these places have unique items at reasonable prices, and we’re happy to say that Tides of the Bay is one of them.  This is not the same old stuff you see in multiple places.

The theme here is all things Nautical, with many hand-crafted works by a variety of artists.  On our last visit we saw some one-of-a-kind desk lamps made from old nautical hardware and several other collections of unque treasures.  They also have a variety of clothing items, including some windbreakers I especially liked.

The people here are always warm and pleasant, even at the end of a long day.

Something else that people should know about Tides of the Bay?  Is there a sailboat moored next to the shop where the name on the bow reads “Store’s Ship”?  Disagree with any of our suggestions?  Please let us know!
