Listings are free. We also recommend checking with Sausalito Police (who have been very considerate in instances where we’ve publicized items), checking with the Sausalito Visitors Kiosk, and using Sausalito Lost and Found on Craigslist. Sausalito Police Dept. is by far the most common place for people to find their lost items that have been turned in.
Please send us listings via email; if it’s a lost pet and you send a picture we’ll use it.
Sausalito Lost and Found Listings (2)
Lost: Happy Sports watch made by Chopard, white gold, around October 1 in Sausalito. “I’ve had it for over 30 years and I’m devastated.” Reward offered. If found, please reach out to us via email and we will relay to the owner and connect you.
Lost: California driver’s license and two visa credit cards on the Bobcat Trail in the Gerbode valley around 9:00 AM Tuesday, August 29. They are most likely about 2 miles up from Bunker Road. If found, please reach out to us via email and we will relay to the owner and connect you.
Although most lost items that are recovered are found quickly, we leave listings up for 90 days as a “just in case…”
Note: Anywhere in California you must always lock valuables out of sight in your trunk, never leave them inside your car. The rate of such incidents is lower in Sausalito than in San Francisco and other larger cities, but leaving anything of value in plain sight — even for just a few minutes — is still a bad bet. * *
We don’t always hear about the successful Sausalito Lost and Found recoveries, but below are some of our favorite “Found!” reports… and a couple of entries that, well, are just plain different.
FOUND!!! I accidentally left a plastic bag today at one of the lookout points with a little parking lot down from the larger parking lot. It had a Colorado hat, a sports bra, a pair of tan sneakers (sketchers) and some socks. It was left at a small turn off area on Conzelman Road near Battery Spencer. I’m not sure if anyone took it or if goes to a lost and found? I would love to know if it would be possible to get back? Please email oursausalito@gmail.com with information and we will relay.
FOUND!!! Men’s wedding band, at the parking lot by the Coast Trail trailhead in the Marin Headlands, GGNRA. Please contact oursausalito@gmail.com with identifying information and we will relay your contact info.
FOUND!!! We dropped a car key in Sausalito in the parking lot across from the restaurant Aurora (the parking lot at Valley and 2nd Street) yesterday morning around 8 am. We went back to look for it when we got home from work yesterday and it was gone. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Please email oursausalito@gmail.com with information and we will relay.
FOUND!!! Seymour has been found and is now safely home! Original Post: Lost: “Seymour”, white and brown Jack Russell dog, wandered away from his home at xx West Richardson in southern Sausalito (AKA Hurricane Gulch, Old Town), which is a block up the hill from Golden Gate Market and near the old Valhalla. Since he was at home he doesn’t have his collar on. Wandered away about 10 AM Sat. July 19. Email xxx.
FOUND!!! See our Facebook page for details, but a member of the Sausalito community saw this post and had seen the pig saved at the Visitors Kiosk. Thanks to the great volunteers at the kiosk, to the community member who went out of her way to ship back the toy, and to everyone who followed up on this!
Original Post: My daughter left her stuffed pig by the fountain in Vina del Mar Park near the Sausalito ferry dock on Monday, April 7th. She is really missing her baby pig and we will gladly pay the shipping to get it back up to Washington state. It is roughly 15 inches tall, stands upright and was left with a sticker book. Please email xxx Thank you!
And… here is our most unusual Sausalito Lost and Found post, also a cautionary tale:
April 5, 2016 — Passport, Phone, Sunglasses. “I recently attended a house party in Sausalito after a night at No Name Bar. We did not know the house owner, but I do remember some of the people at the party shared the name Adam.
I left my black bag at the party with my passport in it. I also lost my phone a Samsung Galaxy S4 with black plastic case somewhere in the town of Sausalito. On top of that I lost my green Rayban aviator sunglasses. It was quite a night and I am trying to piece it all back together.
If anyone was at that house party late night on Monday April 4th, 2016, or has any information on my lost items please let me know.” Please contact oursausalito@gmail.com and we will relay to the owner.
