Letters from a Lifelong Fashionista
.
Some of what I write is specifically about Sausalito fashion or applies to San Francisco or California. Other opinions are about the eternal issues faced by fashion designers, store buyers and consumers: What lines flatter each kind of figure? How can colors work together to create new looks? What do you call those poofy skirts that make you look like you’re wearing a giant Cheeto?
And, of course, the occasional “OMG, did you see this?”

“I Love It!” Stories

Every one of us has her (or his) unique taste. On the pages listed below I’ll share links and commentary for new fashion finds I love for our Northern California lifestyle.
I Love It: Akris punto Tweed Stretch Skirt & Fringed Jacket
I Love It: Free People “Headed to the Highlands” Blouse at Nordstrom
Fashion Gaffes: “A Rose by the Wrong Name” Stories
If I’m looking at clothes or handbags or shoes on eBay I know that some items will be mis-labeled. Some of the terminology will be just plain wrong. Embarrassingly, painfully, woefully wrong.
But I don’t expect to see the same kinds of fashion gaffes in a Macy’s ad online, let alone a page from Sak’s or Nordstroms. There are lots of subtleties in how we describe different fashions, but the basics are like a spelling bee: you either get the name right or wrong. There’s almost no middle ground.
You’ll find links below to my stories on the misadventures of fashion copy writers.
