Fast Forward Summary^TM:   We got a tip from a friend that Fish and Chips had brought in a new chef named Isaac and that he had made a number of big changes to the menu that were worth checking out.  We stopped by for lunch last week, and our friend was right: what was previously a fast food place is now more of a cafe with a darn nice Lappert's ice cream counter.  We've eaten here occasionally for years because the fish and chips were tasty and good value for the money, and these changes will make it a more frequent stop on our lunch wanderings.

They've added panini and sandwiches to the menu, as well as a variety of hamburgers and cheeseburgers.  Their signature fish and chips are even better than before, as good as some we've paid a lot more to order at some swankier local places.  We've always had pleasant service here but on this last visit it felt like the level of customer respect had also risen.  (We eat anonymously around town, so when it's one of us across the counter we get treated the same as everyone else.)

We like these stories where a new chef really makes a positive difference, and our guess is that Fish and Chips will be climbing in our Best Deli's, Diners and Cafes Restaurant rankings.
