| #7 on the OurSausalito.com List of the Best Breakfast restaurants
in Sausalito, 2014
Fast Forward SummaryTM: If you love music with dinner this charming little place belongs high on your list: by night on Wednesdays through Sundays (and even some Mondays and Tuesdays) Divino is the go-to place in Sausalito if you want to enjoy good music with good food. By day it’s a cafe with a strong following among the locals, a community that also makes up most of the audience at night. Open first thing in the morning until late at night, and they have steadily expanded their breakfast menu. Very reasonably priced sandwiches at lunch, higher prices at dinner. The live music most often is jazz or Latin or Brazilian but the other night we walked by and they had a classical trio playing.
Divino: The Details
Known for many years as Caffe DiVino, Osteria Divino is different things at different times of day, but it is almost always charming. As a restaurant aimed primarily at local customers (especially during the day) prices here are especially reasonable for breakfast and lunch.
In the morning, Divino serves breakfast: eggs, omelettes and pastries at reasonable prices.
At lunchtime they offer both their breakfast & lunch menu and their dinner options. The sandwiches are an especially good deal for Sausalito restaurants, with an open-faced offering with prosciutto and cheese and a side salad for under $10. They are also fresh and tasty.
A steady stream of local office workers wanders through in the afternoon, getting coffee and an occasional snack.
Finally, in the evening, they are the charming little Italian restaurant in town that has live music. The restaurant is small, but their menu is the same size as many other larger places, although the prices are proportionately higher than at breakfast or lunch.
Divino is located on Caledonia St. in a neighborhood frequented by Sausalito residents more than visitors. The front room has the counter where coffee and snacks are sold and a number of tables. This is where musicians play in the evenings.
The back room has several more tables, and is also a nice setting for a meal.
