The Golden Gate Bridge District has canceled all morning Sausalito Ferry sailings on Tuesday May 1 due to a 1-day strike by district employees. Only Golden Gate Ferry operations to the Ferry Building are affected, not Blue and Gold Fleet to Pier 41 / Pier 39.
The District plans to start service at 1:55 PM, despite union statements that they will attempt to block any such resumption.
For commuters the afternoon re-start is moot, since they will have had to find alternate ways to work anyway.
We advise visitors (especially those who ride bikes across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco) to plan for possible delays and crowding if only the Blue and Gold Fleet ferries are running, which go from Sausalito to Fisherman's Wharf.
As of today there is no plan to disrupt service on Golden Gate Transit buses. Click here for information on routes fr0m Sausalito and links to schedules.
This strike is part of an area-wide series of strikes by local public worker unions.
