Firehouse Coffee and Tea

Firehouse has been a bright new light ion Sausalito, with quality coffee, tea and snacks at reasonable prices and consistently pleasant service.

History Corner: This spot next door to the Sausalito firehouse (a clue to the origins of their name!) has been a spot for dining drama over the years. In the more recent chapters  the Sausalito City Council rejected the request of Peet’s Coffee to open a shop here (on the site now occupied by Bar Bocce) because Peet’s was a big chain. They then approved Philz Coffee because they are a small chain and, well, they’re one of the popular cool kids in San Francisco.  Philz opened in August, 2012 in the long-vacant spot previously occupied by the Cork Enoteca wine bar and shop.  Frustrated by sign restrictions, nearby construction and rent increases, Philz closed unexpectedly in late 2016, opening the door for locally owned Firehouse Coffee.

Firehouse describes their mission as being “the bridge that connects organic farmers and roasters with the consumers who are always in search of the perfect cup of coffee.” We’ve enjoyed our visits for coffee, tea and food.

Something else that people should know about Firehouse?  Is the Police Dept. jealous of Firehouse Coffee and looking to sublease space in their building to open a Police Station Cafe here?  Disagree with any of our suggestions?  Please let us know!
