Plate Shop
We are sad to say that as of February 11, 2012 Plate Shop has now closed, but happy to say that it has been replaced by the new Fast Food Francais, which opened on February 15. Insiders Tip: This is often a loud restauarant, and if it’s not loud enough they may turn up the music to make it so. For some people that’s key to a vibrant scene and it’s part of why they’re reguilars here. For others it ruins dinner to be shouting across the table. You’ll want to prioritize coming to Plate Shop or decide you’ll avoid it based on how you feel about this issue. One of the great conspiracy theory discussions last year in Sausalito was, “Why doesn’t Plate Shop have a sign on the front of the restaurant?” One school of thought held that it was for dramatic effect, making the statement that if you don’t already know that’s the Plate Shop you lacked the savoir faire to be allowed to eat there anyway. This theory was ruined when a tasteful perforated metal sign arrived in the front window. We are working on a new Caledonia St. Conspiracy Theory since it’s a requirement that the community always has one.
