Note: As of January 1, 2018, access to Muir Woods is controlled by a reservation system, similar to the one used at the National Park Service’s Alcatraz Island. The old Muir Woods Shuttle that was operated by Marin Transit has now been replaced with dedicated service operated by a parks concessionaire.
Although service will be timed to align with the slots used for Muir Woods reservation times by the new system, you no longer have the choice of taking whatever bus comes along after you arrive at the bus stop. Instead, when you make your shuttle reservation you’ll choose a bus stop and arrival time, and you’re supposed to be at the stop for that exact bus.
Shuttles will operate on weekends year-round, an upgrade from the old system. Weekday service will operate during the super-busy period from June 18 to August 10 and on holidays, We think it’s likely that after the initial year of operations they’ll extend beyond that 8-week period once it’s clear there will be demand later in the year.
