Saylor’s Restaurant and Bar
Although Sammy Hagar has earned a lot of publicity for Saylor’s (one of his favorite local spots — see video below) this place is popular with locals. Saylor’s has remained off the radar for many visitors due to its location just north of the Caledonia St. restaurant cluster. A name associated with restaurants in Sausalito for over 20 years. Saylor’s has added the headline “A Little Piece of Cabo in Marin” to its menus, and that’s an accurate description in many ways.
If you come here more than a couple of times they will start to treat you as a “regular,” something I always appreciate. (And Saylors has lots of regulars.) As one local pundit put it, “If you want to see people who live and work all over the world, go to downtown Sausalito. If you want to see people who live and work in Sausalito, go to Saylor’s.” We could add a few more places to that local list, but the principle still applies.
Sean Saylor is a serious expert on tequila, so if that’s your special drink this is a great place. In nice weather their secluded back patio is a great place for lunch.
Something else that people should know about Saylor’s? Have a good recipe for a Tequila Mockingbird? Please let us know!
