Fred's Coffee Shop
Fast Forward Summary TM: This small coffee shop and grill draws visitors from a wide area and is often crowded, with waiting patrons spilling out onto the street. They have achieved the "Cool place that spreads by word of mouth" status in San Francisco that draws many people across the Bridge to come here. Our least favorite thing about Fred's: a few big tables inside instead of a mix of small ones, which means that parties of two often have to share a table at busy times. Of course, that very same feature is behind Fred's being placed on the OurSausalito.com list of the best bars and restaurants in Sausalito for singles to meet new people. There are a handful of small tables out front on Bridgeway, which are great (albeit a little noisy) in nice weather. Our favorite thing about Fred’s: the percentage of people who are greeted by name or treated as “regulars” when they walk in the door. The food is usually very good, prices are on the low side for Sausalito, and the French Toast is a favorite. Part of the eternal local debate, “What’s the best breakfast place, Lighthouse Cafe, Anchorage 5 or Fred’s?”
