Marin City (near Point B on the map below) is the area at the northern border of Sausalito. The neighborhood was born out of the housing units built for the shipyard workers at the Marinship shipyards in Sausalito during World War II.
To many people, Marin City is more familiar as the location of the shopping center anchored by Best Buy. This area also includes a strip of Sausalito that lies between Highway 101 and the Bay near Pohono St. (point A on the map below), the seaplane dock and Gate 6 1/2 Road. where Sausalito adjoins Mill Valley.
