Taxi Fares
Taxi fares are comparable to those in most large American cities, and can vary greatly based on time of day and traffic. Getting anywhere in the city of Sausalito from the Sausalito Ferry pier is almost always going to cost less than $10, and we recommend using the ferry to get to Sausalito from San Francisco whenever possible.
Very rough fare estimates for coming to Sausalito from San Francisco or Oakland in off-peak traffic hours are:
Union Square in San Francisco: $40 to $50 (not rush hour)
SFO San Franciso International Airport: $60 to $70 (not rush hour)
Oakland International Airport: $70 to $80 (not rush hour)
The local taxi companies include:

Do you know the best way to get back to S.F. after the fireworks on the 4th? It looks like the ferry stops around 8pm. Cab look $$, maybe the bus? Is it safe?

Hi, Sharon --
We'll post this in "Ask Annie" as well, but you're right: the ferry service ends before the fireworks begin and cabs are not cheap.
Golden Gate Transit buses are running a Saturday schedule on July 4 and the link is http://activenet2.active.com/sausalito/. As we read the chart Route 80 is the only choice for returning to San Francisco that late, and it departs downtown Sausalito at 9:52, 10:51 and 11:51 PM.
The stops in San Francisco are at the Golden Gate Bridge toll plaza, Civic Center (Golden Gate & Polk), Mission & 1st and 8th & Folsom. The Marin Transit buses have a good safety record. The definition of "safe" for San Francisco neighborhoods once you step off the bus produces such different answers for people that we don't venture to comment. Muni buses may also offer transfer options if you get off at the Bridge Toll Plaza.
Thanks for your question!

Limos are a great way to arrive and leave anywhere in style. In the past, only the rich and prestigious were able to afford limousine services. Today, many limo companies offer affordable solutions so anyone can enjoy a limo ride on any special event for even less than taxicab rates

I'm totally agree with saeed. In fact, the big number of limo companies and the recession time all those factors made what was considered as luxury as something affordable. and the prices of limousine ride are more than a proof.
