Nevada Valley & Marinship North
This is one of a series of pages on each of Sausalito's Neighborhoods, with links to Restaurants, Hotels, Bus Stops and Activities in each area. Click here to return to the Neighborhoods Index.
The largest neighborhood in Sausalito in land area, Nevada Valley is a residential area in the widest valley of Wolfback Ridge, the spine of the Coast Range Mountains that provides the backdrop to Sausalito. Located in the northern one third of town, Nevada Valley meets the Bay in the landfill of the northern portion of the huge Marinship Shipyards from World War II. Marinship now houses offices, houseboat piers, marine businesses and restaurants.
Many locals refer to this area as simply "Up by Mollie Stone's" or "Up by the Post Office." It also includes the ICB Building, a World War II era structure that houses one of the largest working artist groups in the United States.
